In order to provide critical life-sustaining services to the public not only today, but for generations to come, cities must be good stewards of the public purse over the long-term. We must be able to ask: can my city afford to continue doing this forever? The problem is that most people have no idea what the answer is. In this Local-Motive 2024 session with Charles Marohn and long-time member and local budget aficionado Michel Durand-Wood, we'll explore the problem with how so many citizens and leaders view their local budgets, and the real questions we should be asking to determine local fiscal solvency.
This session was recorded live in September 2024 and the recording and related resources are available for purchase.
The course is worth 1 continuing education credit through the AICP.
