Raise your hand if you are tired of waiting in the drop-off line every morning just to get your child to school. Or how about if you are tired of seeing that drop-off line snake through your neighborhood, spewing exhaust and taking up precious time for everyone involved? Imagine a world where the majority of kids could safely walk or bike to school. Uytae Lee, the YouTuber behind the popular “Stories About Here” CBC program has been exploring the issue of car-dependent kid transport in depth. In this session, Lee (alongside Strong Towns Director of Membership and Development Norm Van Eeden Petersman) shares his insights, research, and practical strategies for shifting from the norm of endless drop-off lines to more active, healthier, and less expensive options like biking and walking. We delve into the benefits of active commutes for children's (and parents'!) health, the environment, and community cohesion, and discuss how to overcome the challenges that come with this transition.

The course is worth 1 continuing education credit through the AICP.
